SimSimple at the ACEM ASM

This week, some of the Simulation Simplified team had the pleasure of attending the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) Annual Scientific Meeting on the Gold Coast.
It was inspiring to hear from colleagues across Australasia who are using Visually Enhanced Mental Simulation (VEMS) and SimSimple Kits in creative and impactful ways.
From large tertiary centres to small rural hospitals, emergency teams are finding simple, flexible methods to train. The Emergency Trauma Management (ETM) team shared how they’ve integrated SimSimple Kits into their ETM Advanced Trauma Course—helping participants rehearse teamwork, communication, and decision-making in realistic trauma scenarios.
While enjoying the conference, we heard countless examples of educators identifying ways to adapt VEMS to fit their settings:
-
Morning ward huddles turning into short airway drills.
-
Team training for "hard to simulate" scenarios like post-partum hemorrhage, or thoracotomy
- Opportunity to adapt for medical student and nursing teaching
These conversations reminded us of what we love most about VEMS—it’s adaptable, scalable, and built for real-world teams.
We left the ACEM ASM energised and proud to see so many emergency physicians using VEMS and SimSimple to make simulation part of everyday clinical life.
